Kwan's Cuisine, 835 Commercial St SE, Salem Cost: $11 State Senator Kurt Schrader of Canby is a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Congress in Oregon's fifth district which includes Clackamas County, Marion County, Polk County, portions of Multnomah and Benton Counties, and portions of the Oregon Coast. Schrader's web site is located at http://www.kurtschrader.com/ . Shrader represents Senate District 20 which includes portions of Clackamas County including Canby, Oregon City, and Milwaukee. Schrader was first elected to the Oregon Senate in 2002. Previous public service includes Canby's planning board and the Oregon House of Representatives where he served from 1997 through 2002. During the 2002 and 2005 legislative sessions, Schrader played a key leadership role in the legislature serving as Co-Chair of the Joint Ways and Means Committee which is responsible for development and enactment of the budget for the State of Oregon. Schrader is a farmer, a small businessman, and a veterinarian. He owns and manages Clackamas County Veternary Clinics in Oregon City and West Linn treating horses and companion animals (dogs and cats). He owns and lives on Three Rivers Farm near Canby. Schrader received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University in 1973 and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illonois in 1977. Schader's wife Martha is a Clackamas County Commissioner. Together they have raised five children. | ||
