The Pentacle Theater, 324 52nd Ave. NW, in West Salem -- one of the Northwest's premier live-production all-volunteer theaters -- will stage an exclusive performance of "Betty the Yeti" for Democrats and our friends on June 4th, 2008, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $20.
"Betty the Yeti" is a satirical fantasy by Jon Klein... In this comic Call of the Wild, a disgruntled logger heads for the woods after losing his job and splitting with his wife. A lonely Bigfoot befriends him, and eventually touches his heart. This is more than an off-beat comedy about a man and his odd beast. All the characters (the logger, his estranged wife, his wife's fiance, his mother-in-law, a Forest Service worker, even Betty herself) represent points of view. They tangle, and what do you know? Passion for a cause is entangled by special interest groups. Lots to think about, and laugh about, at the same time.
The Pentacle Theatre is tucked in the hills among tall firs and rhododendrons outside of Salem. Come early (6:30 pm) to choose your seat and enjoy refreshments and conversation in the lobby before the performance.
