Organizational Meeting New Marion County Democrats Campaign Office 250 Liberty Street SE, Salem This is the Marion County Democrats' bi-annual organizational meeting. At this meeting Precinct Committeepersons elected during the May 20 Democratic Primary will elect new officers and representitives to the 5th Congressional District Committee and the State Democratic Central Committee. Anyone wishing to run for these positions should contact Carolyn or John Estelle immediately so that their names can be placed on the ballot. Their phone number is 503-364-5228. Nominations can also be made from the floor. According to state law governing the operation of political parties, only elected Precinct Committeepersons may vote for party officiers. | ||

On Saturday, July 12th at 10am, the Schrader campaign will be launching our first of a series of weekend canvasses throughout the 5th Congressional District. The campaign will be partnering with several Democratic candidates for the Oregon House of Representatives and county Democratic Central Committees to go door-to-door throughout the district as we gear up for the general election.
The recent primary election on May 20th set new records for voter turnout, unfortunately many new Democrats only voted in the presidential race and left the rest of their ballot blank.
Democrats need to reach out to these voters and remind them that to make real progress, we need to focus on winning more than just the White House. On July 12th, we will be canvassing neighborhoods with especially high numbers of people who only voted in the presidential primary, and getting the word out about our Democratic candidates in other races. | ||
