Senate President Peter Courtney
After the end of session, this past June, Senate President Courtney reviewed the Democrats' accomplishments at the July 17th DemoForum.
In the 2006 elections Democrats won control of the Oregon House for the first time in 16 years. Both houses of the Oregon State Legislature are now in Democratic hands. Democrats won the Senate in 2004 after sharing control with Republicans in the 2003 session.
This year, with Democrats in control in both Houses, it was wonderful to hear every day about the positive direction the legislature was taking -- on bulk buying perscription drugs, better funding higher education, tightening ethics rules, and much more.
Thank you. Thank you, Senator Courtney for your leadership in the 2007 session!
