Three Things You Can Do to Take Back Your Country

To become politically effective do one of these three things…

Become a neighborhood leader

Join a committee of the local Democratic party

 Become a neighborhood leader

Become the Democratic point person in your neighborhood. Contact your Democratic and progressive neighbors. (We can help you get started.) Invite them to a get-together, a movie night, a political chat session, or whatever. Just get to know each other. Walk door-to-door or chat on the phone. Find someone who likes to entertain and help that person organize a coffee with a local candidate or elected official. Put up lawn signs together and distribute campaign literature. Show up to your Neighborhood Association Meetings or organize a neighborhood watch. Not only is this the most effective way to exercise your political power and effect change, it’s also the most rewarding!

Join a committee of the local Democratic Party

Your party needs you.The work of changing the party to what you want it to be starts at the grassroots, in your neighborhood and in your local county party. Check the Marion County Dems website for meetings and come to them. Learn what the committees do and pick one to join that night! If you want to influence the way the party operates, this is the most direct way to get involved. We want to hear from you. We are all local people, working together to make a difference.

Volunteer to volunteer

If you have even a little time to spare and you want to make it count, contact our Volunteer Coordinator (Tina Calos) and talk about the help you can offer and the help that is needed. The local party needs responsive volunteers who are willing to help with events, get out the vote, do office work, etc. This is another great way to make a big difference.
