Rep. Betty Komp - Town Hall on Government Accountability

 Tuesday, July 22, 6 to 7 PM

Woodburn Library, 280 Garfield St. Woodburn

In all the hoopla over the presidential election it's easy to forget that the easiest, and most effective, way to initiate change is right here at home.

Rep. Betty Komp, Oregon House District 22As a legislator, it's tempting to rely on the seemingly endless streams of data and numbers.  It can be difficult to remember that this country's greatest assets are those who live right next door.

During the next few months, I am hosting town hall meetings in Salem and Woodburn and I encourage you to join me as we explore current topics and trends in health care (June 23), government accountability (July 22) and employment and workforce development (Aug. 21).

Where should the state direct aggressive audits to ensure taxpayer money is being spent wisely? How can we make state government work more efficiently with local businesses to help create more good-paying jobs? Which state documents are most in need of being put in plain language so taxpayers know how their money is being spent?

If you can make time, please join me in taking an active role in the future of Oregon. I want to know what you think of our current situation in each of these areas and hear your ideas for making it better. Through cooperation, creativity and ingenuity there is no problem too large to overcome.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (503) 986-1422.  Offices in the Capitol building are currently undergoing renovation, but please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
