Marion County Clerk Bill Burgess is responsible for administering Oregon's unique Vote-By-Mail system in Marion County.  It is his responsibility to make sure that every vote is properly counted.  Come and ask your questions about how the systems works.

Bill Burgess is seeking re-election to the non-partisan position of Marion County Clerk.  He is finishing his first term after election in 2004.  Bill also served eight years (1990-98) on the Salem City Council.  In 2000 and 2002, Bill was a Democratic candidate for the position of Marion County Commissioner.

Bill worked for many years as a pharmacist.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Oregon State University.  In 1995, he earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Lewis and Clark College.

As County Clerk, Bill is responsible for administering elections in Marion County.  His office is also responsible for processing of deeds, mortgage and lien filings; marriage licenses, domestic partnership certificates, and passport applications; maintenance of real property records; and liquor licenses.

Bill faces a challenge from Randy Franke who previously served as Marion County Commissioner.  Franke was the unsuccessful Republican challenger to Peter Courtney for his State Senate position in 2002.

The DemForum is a regular luncheon event featuring speeches by by Democratic and progressive officeholders and candidates.  The $11 cost includes a buffet lunch, tea, and gratuity. Reservations are required
